Perth Wedding Upmarket 2012

A few months has passed since Perth Wedding Upmarket & as always I had every intention of blogging about it straight away however I received such a great response from it, that it's been go, go, Go, GO, GO since then. I'll fill you in on what's happen later on but here's just a recap & some pics of my stall at Wedding Upmarket :)
My stall before the soiree of people arrive :)

Hand beaded goodies & detailed blooms.

That's me in the mirror in the pic on the left hand corner & hubby hiding behind the mannequin hehe

I made hundreds of these paper flowers which received a lot of compliments & brides asking how I did it. I've not turned them into an art piece which I plan to hang on my wall. Will share soon :)

I had such a great time at this market. I never realised how much I enjoyed talking to brides in real life, I'm so use to exchanging emails back & forth. Not to mention the amazing wedding vendors I got the privileged of meeting that day, especially my neighbour Nafessa from Cupcake Cravers. Her cupcakes rock! I hope to participate in many more of these boutique Wedding themed markets, Perth needs more in my opinion & Wedding Upmarket definitely ranks up high on the list.

Wise words from Dory!

Saying I've been busy lately is definitely an understatement!

Not only did I do a big photo shoot a couple of weeks ago, I'm currently fulfilling a mountain of orders & preparing for Perth Wedding Upmarket on the 25th Aug. Not to mention things have also been crazy in my personal life, with my oldest sis & family coming hm from the UAE for a long 4week holiday & my younger sis moving to Japan to teach. It's alarming how many things are happening at once but that's what's happening.

Normally i would hide under my warm blanket & come out when things are more at a pace that I can handle but that is not even an option because firstly I have twins (yes, kids change EVERYTHING!!) & secondly these commitments are just to big to hide from. The only way out is to put my head down, work my butt off & go through the this thing called life.

Lately my mantra has been 'just keep swimming! just keep swimming!' which i sing out loud on the more difficult days & i'm surprised how something so simple can actually get me through my day. Hey whatever works, right?

Good old Pixar! Teaching life lessons to people of all ages =)

Here's a few sneak peeks of the shoot. I can't tell you how amazed I am of my sis who also happens to be the photographer. I hope you love them as much as I do! Visit my Facebook page for updates.

Balance

This year for me has been about one thing - balance.

Parenthood was a complete wake up call & although I've heard from MANY before me on just how life changing it really is, I (quietly) thought I could find a balance within it all as soon as I walked out of the hospital and boy-oh-boy was I wrong!! I know having twins was the game changer so I shouldn't be too hard on myself, yet I am shocked that even after all the advice thrown at me & the endless supply of online information, for the first year after becoming a mum i was really walking around in a haze. (new mums will know exactly what i mean!) I don't know what i would of done without the wonderful support from family & friends, & especially my superman of a husband.

Nowadays I wear motherhood quite easily & comfortably. Of course, some days are better than others & it all came down to that one thing - balance. Once Hubs & I figured out & followed through on a routine that suited all family members, life slowly but surely became easier & it feels like someone has released the valve on that pressure cooker.

I love that I'm able to spend more time on Olive Farm & those creative juices have been a flowing! My latest obsession (aside from Pinterest) has been hand beading. I've been doing so much of it lately that I'm sure it's going to hinder my eyesight. Hubs has to constantly remind me to take breaks & stretch my fingers to avoid RSI haha

In a few weeks I'll be joining forces with a lovely bunch of people to do a much anticipated photo shoot. I'm very excited & if it wasn't for this healthy routine I'm instilling on my life i would be in absolute pieces! so yay for balance!

One of the many beauties I'm currently working on =)

Pinning like no tomorrow

As you all know Pinterest is all the rage at the moment. A site that lets you collect gorgeous images & organises them in boards?! Seriously, how can you not get hooked? It's almost like being able to finally organise that messy pantry but instead that pantry is your head and the mess? well that's everything else.

Like others following the Pinterest craze, I can easily send 3-4 hours on the site... a day!! my husband has voiced his concerns & although his worries a dully noted, there's no waaayyyyy i'll give it up! Happy wife, happy life!

As a designer I think it's important to have that visual board in front of you to act as your go-to for inspiration. I'm a very visual person & I believe i've been blessed with great memory & attention to detail. So seeing everything in one place is almost therapeutic. Yeahhhhh therapeutic =)

If you wish to see what all this rambling is about check out MY PINTEREST page. I hope you enjoy it as much as i do. Here's some images of my boards -

Hello

Oh people of blog world, it's been far too long!

Where have i been? i hear you ask. In a word - busy. I never thought motherhood would take as much time as it has & will probably continue to do so. It's been way over a year since my last post but only a few months since my last unpublished post. Secretly for a while now I've been writing unpublished posts, trying to find the words to come back into blog land however they never seemed good enough to published til now (well that's the plan).

I guess I realised and accepted there's really no right way to reenter so i figured why not just dive back in and see if anyone noticed you were missing in the first place haha

Over the next few posts I'll be updating you on what's been happening but for now i want to leave you with some images of my latest 2012 collection. I hope the pieces inspire you to come back & visit me soon. I wanted to end the post by promising not to disappear again but with 1 year old twins now in my life I'm afraid no such promise can be made.

As if you didn't already know, motherhood is hard yo!

Nappies, shoots & getaways.

With babies due date fast approaching I've been working overtime to get orders out and organising the house in anticipation of their arrival. Despite being kid people, Hubs and i are often still at a complete lost on what to get and how much of. I mean 5 boxes of newborn diapers is enough right? Considering each box contains 108 diapers... argh! We don't know!

We've packed and repacked the hospital bags over and over again as it seems first-time-parent nerves have definitely been lurking bout the house. Strangely enough the one thing i'm not nervous about is delivering the babies. Sure like most women i've heard the horror stories that come with the experience such as the mind blowing pain, the accidental pooping & heaven forbid, tearing (yikes!) but i figured the female body was designed for this and as painful as i'm sure it will be, at the end of the day - I'll be okay.

On top of all this I still have bridal orders to fulfill & just last weekend i did my last Olive Farm shoot with my sis before she leaves for overseas. It was a fantastic day & I had an awesome team of people helping. Here are some sneak peaks of the shoot -

Once Rin has finished editing the pics I'll list them in my store, til then it's back to bridal orders & preparing for a much needed 'sisters only' getaway this weekend to Margaret River. We figured with so much happening, Rin moving, me having babies it was well overdue & i'm super excited to be going.

Hope you have a super fun filled weekend too =) I promise to take lots of pics!

{Maternity Shoot Sneak Peak}

As mentioned in my previous post Hubs and I had a maternity shoot with my talented photographer sister Rin, from Rin Nelson Photography. We decided on a beach shoot since it's summer in Perth & as gorgeous as the sky was we didn't count it would be sooooo windy. Still we battled through and managed to get some really great shots with minimum distractions due to the beach being pretty secluded.

Here's a sneak peak of the shoot =) I'll be doing another one in a few weeks when i go on a road trip to Margaret River with all 3 of my sisters. Did i mention how awesome it is to have a photographer as a sister? hehe

Me with the twins =)
